About this deal

Early signs that your potato plant is infected, are brown spots on the leaves. The leaves will start to curl and die. As the disease progresses, you will also see white fungal growth on the underside of the leaves and brown marks will also appear on the stems. Eventually the plant will die.

When digging the hole you shouldallow for around 30% increase in the pot size for depth and width so for example a 20 litre pot is 34cm diameter x 27cm depth - the planting hole should be around 44cm diameter x 35cm depth. The same calculation can be used if repotting into a larger pot on arrival. Shrubs are deciduous or evergreen woody plants, and often provide fragrant flowers, berries and foliage. They are good for structural framework, and they can provide a wonderful shelter and food source for wildlife. Honey fungus could also occur as a result of waterlogging, or if it is already present on the plant or in the garden. It is the most destructive fungus in Britain, and unfortunately the only treatment is evacuation and burning of affected plant material. There is no cure for potato blight, however, you can slow down the progress. As soon as you spot the first signs, remove the infected leaves and destroy them. Don’t compost them, as this could infect your compost. Move the infected plant away from other potato and tomato plants to prevent the disease from spreading.Newly planted conifers need very careful watering during the initial stages. They are drought proof once established and should not need too much watering, but they are very vulnerable to stress from drought if they are not watered thoroughly. Unless you take the unlikely route of propagating an olive tree from cuttings, you will most likely buy a small tree in a pot. Conifers also need decent draining, so do not plant them in very heavy clay soil or else you will risk drowning the plant.

Olea europaea is rightfully recognised as being among the toughest trees and can withstand harsh weather conditions in the UK. Dimensions: 69cm diameter top, 52cm diameter base and 51cm depth. Internal top diameter 65cm. Capacity: 130 litres. Recommended use: Heavy duty plant pots used for tree production and growing. You can, of course, try to propagate multiple cuttings in one pot if you wish, but even a small, young plant should be in its own pot. 9) Water, Feed & Prune Regularly Though this is not strictly necessary during summer, it is imperative during winter and cold weather, especially in the chillier regions of the country. Before covering the potatoes in compost you may want to add some fertiliser to help the potatoes grow. There are a lot of fertilisers around (some organic, some not) that you can use for potatoes. I use Envii Seafeed Xtra, it’s organic and it’s amazing. There are a lot of different containers for potatoes that you can buy, but it’s very important to make the right choice. Large plastic pots (available at most garden centres) are the most common for growing potatoes and are pretty cheap to buy, usually these are made of cheap plastic though so do break. The sizing is estimated but this will give a guideline and we have used a garden spade to show the scale reference

They should be planted in full sun or partial shade, and are tolerant of most soil types, but will benefit from having compost or manure tilled into the soil prior to planting.

They chitted ok, so we planted them. We didn’t have any issues with diseases and got a reasonable crop. One issue was that we couldn’t choose what variety to plant. But then, we had the potatoes anyway, so didn’t spend any extra money. The advantage of growing potatoes indoors is that they are less likely to catch any of the diseases. However there are some things you need to keep in mind: Dimensions: 55cm diameter top, 41cm diameter base and 37.5cm depth. Internal top diameter 50cm. Capacity: 60 litres.
